Homecoming dress by De Laru

Oh my gosh, how I love this dress! As you can see, it's light blue with black netting over top, and black beads in a flowered pattern from De Laru. This dress fits me PERFECTLY, and I love it! It comes to about the middle of my calf, which, I know, is a bit long, but I don't mind. You can't tell from the pictures, but the skirt has a lovely poof to it. The detail on the straps is fabulous, and it was an absolute steal!
I found this dress at Hope Chest (a thrift store), well actually my aunt and mom did, for $20!!
The dress was orignially priced at 40 in the thrift store, btu was half off. But I Googled, and this dress was once sold at Nordstrom's and Macy's! So this is a great deal! Buying a new dress for every formal dance is just too expensive. and besides, the vintage-ish style of this dress is SO me!
I'll be modeling this gorgeous dress for pictures that will be posted with tips to find designer clothing and shoes at places like thrift stores.
mwauh mwauh, love you,
C

Sorry!

So sorry for not posting in almost a month! School has been hectic and everything has been upside down. But I'm back, and I'll be modeling my homecoming dress for a post that will come out on Wednesday, called "Beaded Bargain". I'm posting preshoot pictures, to show you some detail on this gorgeous dress.
Love!

It's once again a school night for most of America. And if you are like me, you'll be waking up bright and early (I'll be waking up at 5:30am) tomorrow morning. There isn't a second to waste, live up the rest of summer (No matter how uneventful it was, mine was basically defined by Project Runway), which only has six hours and fifty one minutes (According to my clock) left.
Good luck to all of my freshman darlings,
and to the rest of you, too.

From Long Sleeved to No Sleeves

If you are like me, you have problems with long sleeved shirts from pajama sets and the winter season clogging up your drawers. Well don't worry, because I have a solution. Just take a long sleeved shirt and immediatly you'll have a chic summer top.

If you're worrying about wearing a bra under this thin shirt, you can do what I did and use stick ons, which I got from Target for sixteen dollars (Reusable for up to three times) .

Just pull the head opening (Which would work better with shirts with wider openings) over your arms, so it's around your upper body so the long sleeves hang down to the sides. Then follow the folling instructions to make the styles pictured.

Style One: Twisted Halter
Pull the sleeves tight to the middle of your body, and then twist then. Then pull around the neck and tie it on the back of your neck.
Style Two: Under Knot
Pull the sleeves right under your chest and make a knot, letting the end of the sleeves hang down.
Style Three: Criss Cross Halter
Pull the sleeves tight to the opposite shoulder and tie around the back of your neck. Tuck excess folds of fabric under the criss crossed sleeves.
Style Four: Tube Top
Pull the sleeves tight around your back and tie in a knot, giving a smooth front appearance.
Style Five: Casual Low Tie
Pull the sleeves semi tight to the front and tie in a knot, let the rest of the sleeves hang down.

New Post Tonight!

I have to go to an open house for school, so when I get back, I'll finish up this awesome post I'm working on.
It had five pictures, and it's something totally easy and inexpensive (Maybe even free) that you can do.
Stay tuned darlings,

C

How To Travel In Style

Traveling. Moving from one location to the other by extensive transportation. Whether you are driving the whole way, or riding shot gun, here are a few things you shouldn't forget.

Music:
Music can make the whole car ride fun, and keep you awake in the night hours. Bring your favorites, but try to keep it light and upbeat, that way your attitude stays bright.

Snacks:
These should always be easy to eat. Like a granola bar, candy bar, fruit snacks, etc. Maybe an apple? That way you can focus mainly on driving.

Drinks:
No alcohol, of course! Bring a couple cans of soda, but be sure to bring a couple bottles of water, so you don't get dehydrated.

Electronics:
Make sure your cell phone, pager, PDA, etc., are fully charged and on, so if anything happens, you can contact someone.

Clothes:
Wear comfortable clothes while traveling that allow you to move freely and are weather appropriate. Also, bring a change of clothes in case something happens.

Makeup:
Bring along a makeup touch up kit with you, so you can fix your makeup where ever you are.

Suit case is a Louis Vuitton Pegase 50 Suitcase $2370

The Natural Exfoliate

Did you know that rubbing sand against your skin exfoliates it?

Well it's true!

So the next time you're at the beach, take some time to massage some sand over your skin (Not too hard), and before you know it, you'll have soft and tan skin!

Seven Ways To Wear A Square Scarf

One: Belt

Fold into a thin rectangle and tie around your waist or through your belt loops.

Two: Drape

Loosely drape the scarf over your shoulders so the ends rest on your back

Three: Shawl

Drape the scarf loosely from elbow to elbow with the scarf stretching behind your back to each side.

Four: Classic

Twist once around your neck, leaving one end resting on your back.

Five: Head wrap

Loosely tie around your head (But tight enough that it doesn't fall around your neck) and pull the fabric as far as possible over your hair.

Six: Faux Tie

Fold into a thin rectangle and tie a loose-ish knot in front, leaving some space between the knot and your neck.

Seven: Fashion Scarf

Tie around your neck like you would a neck scarf. Like a choker, but not tight enough to choke you!

Extra:

Purse Accessory

Tie around one or both handles of your handbag.

Betsey Johnson

I absolutely adore Betsey Johnson's designs. I visited her store in the mall in West Palm (I can't remember the mall's name) and I fell in love with gorgeous dresses that I could only dream of wearing to Homecoming or Prom. Her store has this upbeat, kind of girly/ punk feel, with popping pink walls and black and white tiled floors. The instant I rounded the corner, I wanted to go in, before I even knew who the fabulous designer was. I really admire Betsey Johnson because her designs aren't the cliche' and bubble gum pink chiffon, but darling dresses with bits of edge and attitude. Wearing one of her dresses could give any girl confidence.

Marc Jacob Love

I love these Marc Jacobs bags! I so wish I could buy one of these so bad!
His bags are so polished and to die for. I really like the quilted fabric feel and look, and I like the way he uses gold metal tones in the zipper and clasp/hook/Etc pieces.
A Marc Jacobs bag is a staple for any wardrobe. And hopefully, someday it will be in mine.

All Nighter

This is the polish I use on my toes, and I love it! :DD
It's called "All Nighter" on the Pure Ice line by Bari Cosmetics.
Their site is http://www.baricosmetics.com
This polish has a beautiful metallic luster and the brush makes it easy to apply.
And because I'm so messy with nail polish, I am happy to report it comes off finger tips easily.
I bought this nail polish at Walmart when I was in West Palm Beach a few weeks ago, and have continuously wearing it.
However,
it tends to come off a bit on the tips of my nails and when I was at the beach, the salt water and sand took it almost completely off.
I give it an 8 of 10.

DIY Scarf

I made this multi colored scarf in this picture, and it only took me about 4 hours of continuous work. To make your own scarf, follow the steps below:
Supplies:

  • A new average sized roll of yarn of your color choice
  • A K/101/2-6.50 MM crocheting needing (Mine is from Boye and you can find them at any craft store and some Walmarts)
  • A few small balls of different color yarn for fringe

**Note: This project requires medium crocheting skills. There are plenty of How-To's online to help you, but learning is a bit difficult over the internet.

Step 1: Chain 100 basic crochet links

Step 2: Crochet 6 loose rounds

Step 3: Add fringe:

I used really long peices, and what I did is I used an already cut peice to measure the others. For my fringe, I used primarily a coral pink, and added 6 strands of turquiose yarn, and 3 peices of the yarn I used for the body of the scarf.

Just make sure you evenly distribute your less common colored fringe, to give an even look.

With Love,

C

Glasses!!

I'm getting my new glasses today!
It's going to be so good when I can see again!
I've heard there is a big trend in "nerdy" glasses, which are basically plastic rimmed in tons of cute, bright colors.
Love it!

Teen Vogue!

I finally got my September edition of Teen Vogue, and I think I'm in love.
I really liked the article about teens doing outragous things for designer clothes and fashion shows (Hot Topic: Guilt Group by Evonne Gambrell)
The things girls will do for fashion is quite ridiculous, and they'd rather steal from someone who earned those clothes, instead of working for them themselves.
It's truly quite saddening.
Also, I liked this month's Beauty Blogger story, called Monster Ball by Eva Chen. It's abotu Lady Gaga and her entertaining fashion sense and her promotion of MAC Viva Glam products for AID research.
I just adore Lady Gaga, because she's not affraid to wear something totally crazy and fierce. In a way, she's a bit of a role model, someone to look up to that cares more about how she sees herself than everyone else.
Overall, this edition of T.V. was awesome! I loved it! <3

People Of Hogwarts, Did You Get My Text?

Note:
Sorry I haven't been posting lately! I don't even have an excuse.

A Very Potter Musical

I loved this! It was absolutely fantabulous! The music and lyrics and lines were suburb and the actors were great.
Plus, Darren Criss who plays Harry, is HAWT.
Check it out on YouTube.
Search "A Very Potter Musical"
And look for the play (it's divided into acts 1 and 2 and parts 1-13) listed under the screen name TeamStarKid
It's fabulous!

Who knows how fast, this years gonna go, hand me a glass, let the butterbeer flow!

Illiterate People

I can't stand those people!
They message you on facebook saying "hey" or "sup" with no capitals or punctuation or grammar!
Or, if your like this one girl I know, they post something on your facebook wall, and they spell your name wrong. On your wall. With your name almost all over the page.
For example, I got a post on my wall once that said

"siera you shouldnt have that pic up of you it bad and you get in trouble with yur parents and thats not good just wanted to let you know okay"

First of all, my name is spell C I A R A, not Siera, which isn't even the correct spelling of that spelling of my name.
And second, there is no punctuation. No commas, periods, apostrophes, colons, etc. !! Seriously?!
And third, the capitalization in this wall post is horrendous.
I can't stand people like this, who don't know how to type sentences correctly.
Thank goodness my boyfriend is just as literate as I am.

Snooki? Jersey Shore?

This show is so ridiculous!
Fake tans and pickles and Guidos!
I seriously just saw the Season 2 commercial and it
was Snooki saying that trying fried pickles
'was life changing'.
My gawd. Can she be any weirder?

Pretty Little Liars

I love this show!
I read the first two books before the show started and I absolutely loved it!
Id have to say I'm most like Spencer, because I'm practically OCD about my grades.
However, I don't really like how they over dramatized the show.
Like at the end of the Home Coming episode, when they made it seem that Emily had died because someone changed the population sign. That was just uncool.
They shouldn't do something like that especially when its based on a book.

Trench Coat

I am in love with this coat.
Its $19.99 on ebay and I just WISH I had a Paypal so I could buy this darling coat!
Yeah yeah, I know its summer, but fall is almost here, and this is a coat I could wear until March!
This is definitly what I want for my birthday, along with a dvd version of Breakfast at Tiffany's!
This coat also comes in white with black buttons, and then completely black.
I personally prefer the black since stains wont show to much and its so chic!
Love it!

Movies That I Will Someday Own

Yup.
When I get my first apartment, this is the list of movies that I want to have in my personal collection.

Breakfast at Tiffany's (Haven't seen it yet, but I hear it's amazing!)
The Devil Wears Prada
The Blind Side
Remember Me
The Last Song
PS I love you
How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days
Dear John
The Notebook
Uptown Girls
13 Going On 30
Miss Congeniality
Grease (All of them!)
Bye Bye Birdie
Little Miss Sunshine
Legally Blond

Leave me comments telling me what other movies I should add to the list!

You know you love me,
xoxo
Gossip Girl

(Sorry! I just HAD to! Ive been reading GG all day so it just comes naturally.)

Remember Me

This movie is really sad, and I almost cried at several points.
Robbert Pattinson stars in this movie, that takes place in mostly 2001, and it leads up to September 11Th.
My mom actually didn't like this movie, she thought it was weird,
but I,
I really connected with it.
Like Caroline, the little sister who goes to her first sleepover and gets half of her hair chopped of among other cruel childish-bullying things.
At one point, sweet and artistic Caroline was me.
I was like the little girl standing in the foyer unsure if she should join the group.
I was like the little girl telling her big brother not to smoke and believe in him.
And other parts, like in the very beginning, when the mother was robbed and shot in front of an 11 year old Ali,
it broke my heart.
I know of love,
and I know of heartbreak.
And this movie tells the story of both.
I suggest you watch it with an open mind and prepare to be enlightened.

Boyfriends

Yes! I have a wonderful, fantastic, uber handsome boyfriend!
His name is Collin and today is. . . .
Our six month anniversary <3 :3
Aside from being my fabulous boyfriend,
he's my best friend and we talk about everything and anything.
I met him in history class last year, and he really changed my life.
Without him, I don't know where I'd be or if I'd even be here.
Just remember,
Love is divine.

School Bags

Does anyone know where to get a school bag?
I kind of want a tote style bag, but it must be durable.
My bag from last year was PERFECT, it was a fuchsia vinyl leather bag from Roxy and it was ah-maz-ing!
Hopefully I can find another awesome school bag for freshman year. :DD

Front of the Class

This movie is about a teacher with Turrets and its so sad!
The teachers name is Mr. Cohen and he teaches 2ND grade.
He is easily the coolest teacher ever!
Like he wears all of these different hats for different lessons and has the most fun way of teaching geography.
Plus, he has a class rabbit called WAFFLES.
But some people don't like Mr. Cohen and aren't really nice to him.
For example, one of his students fathers pulled their father out of Mr. Cohen's class because of his turrets.

Talking Instead of Texting

So yeah, really, I prefer talking on the phone over texting.
Its kind of weird though because I send about 5,000 texts a months, but only spend about 350 minutes on the phone a month.
You see, my boyfriend and I cant talk ALL the time so we text when we can. I guess it makes it easier to stay in touch, but sometimes its just not the same.
But when your on the phone, you can have a whole discussion in half the time and you can hear them laughing and the emotion in their words.
But that's just opinion.

With <3

Recreate. Revamp. Redo.

So I'm recreating my wardrobe. Yup. That's some fun stuff. Lately Ive realized that I have trouble finding clothes that go together when I'm getting dressed. So I'm going to take every article of clothing I have and weed through them. According to what Ive researched as the 'ideal' wardrobe, I need to minimize my wardrobe to the following:
Several pretty blouses
Three dress pants
Three skirts
Three jeans
Five pairs of shoes that match everything
Two blazers/jackets
One long coat
One pair of boots
Matching earrings, scarves, necklaces, bracelets
Three purses
Three dresses (One casual, Two evening)

So this is going to be hard. I guess Ill pick my favorites and just take the rest to Plato's closet.
Let the revamping begin.
